South Shore Conservatory is pleased to announce Trumpet Workshop 2010. This intense week-long workshop gives students the opportunity to study and perform works from the rich canon of trumpet solo and ensemble repertoire, as well as transcriptions from some of Western Music’s greatest masters. The workshop also gives students the unique opportunity to work with some of New England’s finest trumpet students and forge life-long friendships, all while working in the idyllic environment of South Shore Conservatory’s beautiful Hingham campus.
Who Is Eligible?
Trumpet Workshop is open to all trumpet students age 14-18.
What Should I Bring?
Trumpet(s), Music (at least one to two solos), Folding Music Stand, Mutes, Metronome, Pencil, A Desire to Learn!
What Should I Expect?
Warm-Up Sessions: Each morning students and faculty gather to learn different warm-up techniques. These sessions include stretching, breathing, mouthpiece buzzing, scales, and other exercises.
Coachings: Students receive coachings from the faculty on both their solo repertoire and the assigned ensemble repertoire.
Performance Class: At the end of the week, student soloists and ensembles will perform their works in the Jane C. Carr Amphitheater. These classes will be recorded in both audio and video formats.
Video Review: After each Performance Class, students and faculty will meet to watch the video footage of the class and critique the performance.
Private Lessons: Each student will have the choice to take a private lesson with a member of the faculty to work on their solo piece for the Performance Class and other topics.
Auditions
All students must audition for the program. You may sign up for a live audition or you may submit a recording. Live and recorded auditions are equally reviewed by the faculty.
For the audition, you should perform two solo works or etudes of contrasting styles. It is recommended that students audition with District level pieces.

Tuition and Registration
Tuition: $450
A non-refundable $100 deposit is due upon acceptance into Trumpet Workshop. The remaining balance is due by July 1, 2010. Financial aid is available for students showing financial need. Financial aid forms must be filed no later than June 15, 2010. Please check the appropriate box on the application to receive a financial aid form, or download a form.
