Summer Theatre Programs at SSC 2013

Emily Arsenault, Director

South Shore Conservatory's summer theatre programs provide young people of all ages an opportunity to explore the process of "making theatre" from start to finish. Across all levels, the core element of our philosophy is a commitment to exposing students to original creative material. While our youngest members perform each week in a new musical adaptation of a favorite tale, older students are supported and guided as they imagine, write, and perform their own theatrical creations.

Curtain Going Up: Summer Theatre Workshop
For students ages 4-7

Week One: July 22-26
Week Two: July 29-August 2

Designed for our youngest budding performers, this morning workshop introduces students to the world of theatre through dramatic play, movement, music, and art activities. Students may choose a one-, two-, or three-week theatre arts experience, and each week will focus on an original "mini-musical" story drama, concluding in a Friday presentation for family and friends.

Summer Stage Camp

In this fun-filled two-week performing arts experience, students will develop their skills in acting, movement, and singing while collaborating in the creation of an original theatrical revue! Students will be grouped by age in our Premiere (8-11) and Encore (12-15) ensembles for daily workshops including improvisation, character and scene study, movement, singing, and playwriting. The program will culminate in a final performance presented to family and friends on the afternoon of August 2.
