President's Welcome
For 38 years, South Shore Conservatory has been engaging people and building community through the arts. With humble beginnings in the basement of a local church, the school has grown to become the largest community music and arts school in Massachusetts, engaging students and audiences of all ages. This is a warm and welcoming place for you and your family to explore, excel and learn, in and through the arts.
A typical day at the Conservatory begins with the joyous sound of children’s voices as they greet their teachers for another exciting day of preschool and Kindergarten. As the morning unfolds with music, art and creative movement for some of our youngest participants, the building fills with adults practicing Yoga and moms and dads arriving with their children for Music Together. Studios fill up with adult students taking keyboard classes, voice lessons and recorder ensemble. The Home School Art Institute brings students ranging in age from 2-17 to our school to take lessons and participate in art, theatre and music classes.
Soon school is out and the Conservatory really starts to hum! Kids start arriving, instruments in hand, ready to learn from the incredible professional faculty that sets the Conservatory apart. Whether a budding Beethoven, a blossoming Barbra Streisand, or a beginning B.B. King, the Conservatory has the right teacher for you and your child.
As evening approaches, the hall fills in anticipation of a faculty concert or student recital. Attending performances and participating in recitals are important lessons in a complete arts and music education. Our students are inspired by watching our accomplished faculty in concert and motivated by seeing an advanced student in recital.
If it’s Wednesday night, 90 students arrive at the Duxbury Performing Arts Center to experience the exhilaration of working together to make beautiful music as part of the Conservatory’s new Bay Youth Symphony.
And this is just one day!
Throughout the year, the Conservatory offers programs and performances designed to reach everyone! Music and the arts open doors to the imagination and provide a gateway to a lifetime of creativity and enjoyment.
