Meet the Teachers

Carol Scheig, Preschool Director, Hingham has worked in early childhood education for 27 years, and has been the director of the Conservatory's Hingham preschool for 25 years. A magna cum laude graduate of Curry College with a bachelor of arts, Carol holds a certificate from the Massachusetts Department of Education, and certification from the Office of Child Care Services. A recipient of the Perry Normal School Early Childhood Award for Excellence as well as appearing in the Who's Who Among Colleges and Universities, she has lectured and conducted workshops on topics such as the importance of the arts in education.

Carol designed and implemented the original Preschool Program at SSC's Duxbury campus at the Ellison Center for the Arts, and is currently using her experience and talent in planning the expansion in Hingham to include full-day pre-kindergarten and kindergarten programs. Her favorite quote is "If we hope for our children that they will become full human beings and that they will move towards actualizing the potential that they have, then, as nearly as I can make out, the only kind of education in existence today that has any faint inkling of such goals is arts education." - Abraham Maslow.
