Meet the Teachers

Jill Martin, Kindergarten is a graduate of Stonehill College with a concentration in English/Education. She received her Masters degree in Education from Wheelock College, graduating magna cum laude with a concentration in Pre-K through 3rd grade/Inclusionary Practice. Jill is responsible for daily classroom management, developmentally appropriate curriculum design and implementation, and ongoing assesment of cognitive, physical, social and emotional development for each child.
Prior to the Conservatory, Jill taught kindergarten and first grade at Hingham's Foster School and at the Blue Point Elementary School in Scarborough, Maine. Jill resides with her family in Marshfield. Her son, Owen, attended the SSC preschool. She has been the Kindergarten teacher for South Shore Conservatory since 2004.

Karen Hill, Kindergarten, received her bachelor's degree from Hofstra University, and her masters in Child Development and Early Childhood Education from Wheelock College. In addition to working as an infant/toddler teacher for Kindercare Learning Center in Manchester, New Hampshire, she has worked as a child care provider for the past six years in a private home. She joined the South Shore Conservatory preschool faculty in 2008.

Heidi Holbrook-Kalil, Pre-K, graduated from Simmons College in Boston with a degree in psychology. As part of an internship program there she worked at the James Hannigan Child Care Center (Jamaica Plain) with low income and DSS-recommended children. Heidi worked closely with the school psychologist to coordinate behavior plans and keep accurate behavioral records. She continued her early childhood education at Bridgewater State College. Through her internship in the Duxbury school system, she participated in both group and individual instruction in an integrated preschool program as well as in a second grade classroom. For three year Heidi taught pre-kindergarten and co-taught kindergarten at the Ridge Hill School in Norwell. She and her husband Sam have three beautiful children. Heidi started with South Shore Conservatory in 2008.
Reading Specialist Laureen Brown has an Elementary Education degree and a Master's in Reading degree from Bridgewater State College. She is also certified in the Orton Gillingham reading Method. She currently tutors privately in the South Shore area. Laureen was a fifth grade teacher in Abington for 9 years. In addition to working with the Conservatory's Kindergarten class, she works as a substitute teacher in the Hanover school system. She has been with South Shore Conservatory since 2010.
Adrienne Perfetuo, Pre-K, dance instructor, has a B.A. in Dance and Performance Studies from Roger Williams University . She has been studying dance for 16 years, from Ballet to Jazz, Tap to Hip Hop, although her main focus is Modern and Creative dance. She has also trained thoroughly in Figure Skating.
Teaching and choreographing is a huge passion for Adrienne. "Working with children is so fulfilling and rewarding, there isn't anything I would rather do," says Adrianne. A piece Entitled "Emotional Divide," choreographed by Adrienne, was featured and adjudicated in the American College Dance Festival, and received great reviews! In the future, she plans to attend graduate school to pursue more education in the field of teaching.
Adrienne joined the South Shore Conservatory faculty in 2005.
Elaine Sorrentino, Pre-K and Hingham Preschool, has worked for South Shore Conservatory as Communications Director since 1993. In fall of 2007 she returned to school to become lead teacher certified, and now splits her time between teaching and marketing. She received her lead teacher certification in 2010. In addition to her job at the Conservatory, she works as a part-time librarian at Clift Rodgers Library, a small community library in Marshfield Hills where she interacts with children in a variety of reading programs. Elaine has a BS in journalism from Suffolk University.
