Media Kit

Dear Member of the Media,

Thank you for your interest in South Shore Conservatory (SSC).  Serving more than 2,500 students of all ages and abilities, SSC is the largest community school for the arts in Massachusetts, ranking 17th across the nation.  Our two state of the art facilities in Hingham and Duxbury, as well as our Community Partnership programs, allow us to offer music, dance and drama instruction, music therapy and performances throughout the South Shore.

Our professional faculty of artist educators share their talents with students ranging in age from 9 months to 90 years.  They provide inspirational individual and group instruction in all styles of music and engage students in exciting and innovative drama and dance classes.  Our Duxbury campus, located at the Ellison Center for the Arts, is a satellite for José Mateo Ballet Theatre’s Young Dancers Program which was named Best of Boston in 2011 by Boston magazine.

Knowing that early exposure to the arts has far reaching benefits, we offer a range of classes for the very young beginning with the internationally-recognized MUSIC TOGETHER® program for infants and toddlers and our Best of Boston arts-based preschool and kindergarten program at our Hingham campus.  Other unique educational programs include Bay Youth Symphony, Pure Treble and Pure Harmony Choruses, Summer Music Festival, and SSC Community Voices, a chorus for developmentally delayed adults and young adults.

The Conservatory also presents outstanding professional concerts and performances throughout the year, many are free and all are open to the public.  Evenings Under the Stars (EUS) our outdoor concert series and Duxbury Music Festival (DMF) draw summer audiences to each of our campuses from the Greater Boston area.

In this kit you will find:

Again, I thank you for your interest and welcome an opportunity to answer any questions at your convenience.

Sincerely,

Elaine Sorrentino
