Philip Trembley

Teaching Artist Statement
Philip Trembley, percussion/timpani, specializes in the instruction of moderate to advanced students who are determined to develop their  artistry to its full potential.  Although Philip has very high expectations and encourages rigorous self-discipline outside of lessons he likes to keep individual lessons light hearted by telling stories, laughing, and having fun playing music.

Teaching Bio
Philip began studying drums and percussion at the age of 12. After excelling in all areas of music in high school he went on to study percussion and timpani professionally with Dr. Thomas Toner (Vermont Symphony Orchestra), Dr. Stuart Marrs (Orquesta Sinfónica Nacional de Costa Rica), W. Lee Vinson and Tim Genis (Boston Symphony Orchestra). Philip received his BM in percussion performance from the University of Maine and his MM in percussion performance from Boston University.  With eight years of private teaching experience, Philip began teaching at the South Shore Conservatory in 2010.  As a member of the percussion faculty, he teaches private students and coaches the Summer Music Festival percussion section.  Although Philip specializes in teaching classical percussion, he is also an expert in pop/rock drumming.
