Karen Rafferty

Karen Rafferty, guitar, received a Bachelor of Music degree from New England Conservatory in 1984. Karen began her guitar studies as an adult and new mother. She studied with French guitarist Alfred Eric Street and, at the New England Conservatory, with Robert Paul Sullivan. She graduated in 1984 with a major in Music Education. Following graduation she continued her studies with Orff Schulwerk workshops, specializing in early childhood music and Suzuki Guitar teacher training institutes through book 5.

Karen joined the faculty of the South Shore Conservatory in 1985. She teaches the preschool music classes and Joy of Music classes at the Hingham campus, and teaches Suzuki Guitar to students 4 years old through high school, and classic guitar to adults at both the Hingham and Duxbury campuses. She is the former president of the statewide Suzuki teachers organization, the Suzuki Music Schools.

Karen lives in Sharon with her husband and is the proud grandmother of Chiara.
