Margaret Curtis

Teaching Artist Statement
I believe in a life-long learning through play. As children we learn to get along when we play. As adults we see play as frivolous and childish. If as a child you learn to play with your friends or by yourself, you develop an inner happiness. That is the greatest gift you can give to yourself. As adults, being happy is very challenging day in and day out. With the constraints of everyday life, if you take few minutes each day, you walk outside and explore your surrounding you will find an overall peace and happiness. With a little more happiness the world will be a better place. Have fun try new things and go out and play!

Teaching Bio
Margaret G. Curtis graduated from Bridgewater State with a degree in Health and Physical Education. Before working at South Shore Conservatory Margaret worked with young children at a company that brought physical education to parochial schools on the South Shore.   In addition, Margaret is certified and works with high school athletes as an official for field hockey and lacrosse, and in fall of 2011 obtained her NCAA rating as a Women's Lacrosse official. Margaret started with South Shore Conservatory in 1989.

When she is not with the children at the Conservatory or on the field she can be found rowing shells at Lincoln Maritime, stand-up paddling where she began teaching in the summer of 2011, or sailing with her family on their boat "Magpie."

Her two adult children, Emily and Tommy, are alumni of the Conservatory preschool where they discovered their love of music.  At SSC they took lessons on violin, drums, and horn.
Her husband, Brian, is a proud supporter of the arts and South Shore Conservatory.

Margaret’s passion is to play. She wants everyone to enjoy play as a child or an adult through good healthy living.
