Opera by the Bay

Opera by the Bay
Artistic Director, Beth MacLeod
Opera by the Bay (OBTB) brings together adult vocalists who have a mutual love of opera. Participants for each production are chosen through periodic auditions, and in a supportive environment, gain valuable musical and dramatic experience from each other. Differences in style and technique are shared in a non-judgmental manner, encouraging musical and personal growth while upholding high performance standards. Rehearsals are scheduled on Monday and Friday evenings to make them accessible to the busy professional. No fee.
November 7 & 8
Amahl and the Night Visitors
Begin the holidays early! Opera by the Bay presents Gian Carlo Menotti's beloved classic about a crippled boy cured after a visit from the three wise men on Christmas Eve. This family classic is a beautiful way to introduce school age children to opera, and features SSC boy sopranos Andrew Northrop and Sean Feth as Amahl. With simple sets, lush costumes and a beautiful chorus, this oft-requested opera will warm your heart. A true Conservatory family event, it will include dancer Adrienne Perfetuo from the TEMPO Program and singers from our student, parent and trustee families.
